Animations for the Family
Pixelnitrate is entirely dedicated to cartoons, so it’s inevitable for me not to post an article devoted to the top four animation movies to watch at least once in your life. All of the titles you’re about to get familiar with are highly prominent and will surely keep you amused until the closing credits. I believe that the biggest animation fans here will probably have watched some of the productions.
However, I truly hope you’ll find a film you haven’t seen yet. I guarantee you that you’ll enjoy each cartoon provided here on this blog piece. Now, I advise you to put a bag of popcorns in your microwave so that your snack is ready when you pick the fictional characters to spend the next few hours with.
Up
I’ve mentioned this great movie in some of my previous articles. That is not surprising because this film by Pixar is an absolute masterpiece. Even though it’s a cartoon, it can surely cause tears to well up in your eyes. The plot tells the story of a man called Carl Fredricksen. At the beginning of the movie, we find out how Carl first met his one true love called Ellie. They become close friends, and their relationship grows into something more soon after.
Viewers are presented with fractions of their life and care-free youth. Years later, however, their lives take a turn when they learn they cannot have children. This particular scene is quite devastating. They both decide to save some money and fulfill their dearest wish, which is to go to Paradise Falls in South Africa. Unfortunately, they never manage to do it.
Nevertheless, Carl is determined to succeed in this venture and luckily, he meets the Scout boy Russell who is happy to assist him with whatever he can. Up is a wonderful cartoon that certainly focuses on some fundamental themes. I certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a beautifully made animation but also wishes to contemplate essential topics about life, happiness, and loyalty.
Coco
Back in 2017, Pixar and Disney fans were presented with one of the most splendid cartoons ever made.
On the contrary, the movie will make you laugh from the bottom of your heart. Then, you will find yourself looking for handkerchiefs to absorb your running tears. At least, this was the case with me. The Mexican-inspired cartoon is truly fascinating and keeps the audience’s interest until the end. The plot becomes crystal clear in the last couple of minutes when the truth is revealed. If you haven’t seen it yet, please procrastinate no more. Grab your box with paper napkins and prepare for an unforgettable adventure filled with music, laughter, tears, and excitement.
Zootopia
Without a doubt, I can say that Zootopia is one of the most entertaining and positive cartoons I’ve ever seen. Whenever I watch it, I feel a sense of optimism and peacefulness. Walt Disney Pictures’ production was released back in 2016. Its budget was approximately $150 million, but the box office reached the spectacular $1.023 billion, which made it the second-highest-grossing Disney movie after Frozen.
As its title suggests, Zootopia’s characters are only animals. You won’t see a human character in the film. The main heroine is a cute little bunny called Judy Hopps. She fulfills her dream of becoming part of the Zootopia Police Department. One day, she meets the witty fox Nick Wilde. Even though their acquaintance doesn’t begin in the best way possible, soon after, they become close friends.
We become witnesses of their exciting and incredibly fun adventures presented in the best possible way. The cartoon features many other fictional characters, such as Flash, who, regardless of his name, is the most sluggish sloth you’ll ever see. The adventurous animation movie has a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is truly impressive. To be honest, I’m far from surprised because this is the one cartoon I can watch over and over again.
Brave
Brave is a captivating cartoon produced by Pixar which first appeared in 2012. The story takes place in Scotland, and we get familiar with the impeccable archer Merida. The redhead’s biggest nightmare is boredom, so she always strives to embark on various quests filled with action and mischief. Oftentimes, she is accompanied by her little brothers, who are always excited to join her in her seek of amusement.
One day, however, Merida makes a decision that changes her life completely. She asks a powerful witch to change her fate. The unexpected chain of events that follows makes the skilled archer regret her haste choice. The Pixar production lacks absolutely nothing; you’ll laugh with tears at some of the scenes, and other times you’ll feel a lump in your throat.
Brave is one of the few animation movies where romance is not the main focus. This story focuses entirely on Merida’s relationship with her mother Elinor. Other productions highlighting the importance of family relations are:
- The Lion King
- Inside Out
- Bambi
- Adventures of Mowgli
Unsurprisingly, the movie receives mostly positive reviews and has a great score on Rotten Tomatoes. The production has won over $549 million.
Final Words
The fantasy world of cartoons is endless and incredibly mesmerizing. If you wish to escape from your everyday life for a few hours, an animated film may be the perfect option for you. The best thing is that there are numerous titles to choose between. I promise to deliver more lists with animation movies to watch. Also, I’d be happy to know which are your favorite productions.
